greeting cards

Have you ever gotten a big project done with the help of your friends and family? If so, you might like to consider photo cards that incorporate an image of the finished project when you send out thank you cards!

This one is tuned into a barn raising project, or anything rural or rustic:

It’s simple! Just click on “change” under the placeholder image that’s there. Direct it to browse on your computer for an image and click on the one you like. Voila! It re-sizes your photography and adds it to the card underneath those little scrapbook corners.

Barn Raising photocard

Not quite what you wanted? Click again on change and switch to a different photo. This card will use the middle of your photograph, so you may want to adjust your photo on your computer before you upload it. OR, click “customize” or the phrase “edit this in our design tool now“. Clicking on the line next to the tiny thumbnail of your photo will bring up some re-sizing options. Click on the little magnifying glasses and/or arrows to move and/or re-size your photo.

Change the words to suit your new photo card and Presto! A custom thank you card!

When you walk up and down the beach, sooner or later, you will see not only endless sand and interesting stones and seaweed and shells, but also dead things! I came across this perfectly cleaned fish skeleton on a Florida beach and knew it had to be preserved somehow. How dignified the fish still appeared!

So, one thing I created was a humorous card intended for one of the men in one’s life: Dad, Uncle, Grandpa, etc.

Just sold one, so there is at least one person sharing my sense of humor! Oh, unless, of course, they changed all the wording. It’s customizable, so that could have happened. Oh well! Happy beach days and watch where you walk!

Red Vibrations

May 19, 2009

Cheery red abstract is a perfect background for your cheery Hello!

You would never guess, but this abstract began life as a photograph of two yellow conehead flowers! That is, coneflowers. I don’t think coneheads have been around a while. It’s late while I write this, as you may imagine. The coneflowers were shaped very interestingly and the lighting was cool.
But, they really popped when I adjusted their colors to other-worldy purples and reds via the wonders of Photoshop and Lightroom. I took the image back into Photoshop to reduce some noise that was bothering me, but ended up accenting the grain of noise vertically to get some cool stripes, blurring them vertically and, finally, adding a radial blue filter. The pink and purple smudge was the original dominant coneflower, the dark smudge on the right was the backgrounded coneflower.
So, now they’re a cheery group of cards, postage stamps and other gifts. The key ring is strictly in honor of my niece, who locked her keys in the car once again. Maybe I should invent a Velcro key retainer for her like you would have on a jet-ski instead of designing another key ring she’ll leave behind! :)

Meadow Anemone by Woodswalker Browse Anemone Cards Oh, the beautiful wind flowers! Anemones are also called wind flowers – isn’t that pretty? So many flowers have goofy names!
